Celestial Wonders on the Llyn Peninsula
It is no secret that I really love the dark skies on the Llyn Peninsula. It is relatively easy to find an area with a Bortle 2 rating for light pollution (Bortle 9 is the most light pollution, 1 is the darkest). With plenty of south facing coast line on the peninsula it is perfect to shoot the Milky Way over the ocean, reducing the effects of light pollution even more.
Here is a favourite location of mine for night shots, as it is very isolated and peaceful. This image was taken in May 2024, earlier in the Milky Way season and I was lucky enough to capture a shooting star in this image. This is a blended image, with a tracked sky shot taken for three minutes, with a four minute exposure on the foreground.
