The Lonely Tree
This must be the most photographed tree in North Wales! But, I think you can see why looking at this image. Light reflected in the lake, a soft light from the sky and the dramatic mountains make for a lovely composition.
I headed to Llanberris after being out shooting the Milky Way, hoping for a sunrise. The cloud had other ideas, but I still love how this image turned out.
Despite this stunning location being not so ‘lonely’ it still took us a bit of figuring out to find it. A guide we found online took us to the other side of the lake!
The tree sits on the shore of Lynn Padarn, and there is a small car park opposite Snowdonia Watersports. Parking up there it is a short walk to the tree- even really early or really late, it is unlikely you will be alone!
If you wanted to make a full day of it, there is plenty to explore nearby- there is Dolbadarn castle and Dinorwic quarry. Even really early, we weren’t alone and another photographer arrived hoping to catch a beautiful sunrise.
It is such a lovely spot, I will be back to capture this shot in different seasons and weather.
